Life as a sweet tooth on the trails.

This healthy almond chocolate cream is a real competition for any ready-made chocolate.

I have no idea how it is with you guys, but when I am outdoors running or hiking, I often want something sweet. My favourite fix to satisfy my addiction is either icecream ord chocolate. Unfortunately, I am one of those people that only need to read the word chocolate to gain 2 kgs. So in that sense, I am pretty much sc@$wed.

Luckily I have a girlfriend, Heike, who happens to be a very talented and skilled holistic health expert and a very passionate pie baker. Years ago she graduated for her license in Switzerland. And what are the Swiss very famous for? Besides watches, Roger Federer and banking. Indeed, you’re right, chocolate!!!

So Heike thought I would be a very good idea to make something both healthy and sweet for me to take along the trails. She has made many things since then, but today I’ll give you her version of (Of course!): chocolate cream 🙂

And before someone thinks “cream on the trails, that’s got to be messy”, he or she is right. You should avoid to take it with you if you decide to go for a tour in the desert so to speak. However, if you do like I do, and take this cream me together with some cookies or sandwiches, you will find no problem at all. Trust me, this healthy almond chocolate cream is a real competition for any ready-made chocolate. And it is also sugar-free and vegan 😉

Ingredients for Almond Chocolate Cream:

Almond Chocolate cream on the trails
Almond Chocolate cream

200 gr date paste
150 ml of almond milk
50 ml of vegetable oil
50 gr cocoa powder
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 pinch of salt
1 spoon chopped/crushed almonds

Preparation Almond Chocolate Cream:

Cut the date paste* slightly small. Place the date paste, almond milk, oil, cocoa powder, vanilla and salt in a pot and heat gently until the date paste becomes soft.

Then pour everything into a mixing bowl and stir with a blender until smooth and homogeneous. Finally, add the almonds and mix well.

Storage of the almond chocolate cream:

Pour the cream into a glass, let it cool completely and let it soak in the refrigerator for a day. This way the flavours combine much better.

The cream is a wonderful spread, vegan and sugar-free.

Stored in the refrigerator lasts 2 – 3 weeks.
